Fabio Cannavaro to Return
(AP) - PERUGIA, Italy - Fabio Cannavaro flew to Italy on Sunday to undergo a medical test ahead of his proposed return to Juventus, the ANSA news agency reported. The Real Madrid defender and Juventus midfielder Mohamed Sissoko, who is recovering from a broken foot, will visit medical consultant Vincenzo Cerulli. The 25-year-old Cannavaro is a free agent at the end of the season and Madrid has not offered him a new deal. Juventus fans have protested at the return of a player who left when the club was relegated to Serie B.

Juve, First Place is Closer 0-0 in Russia with Zenit
The Bianconeri played well in the first half, twice hitting the woodwork with Mellberg and Iaquinta, while in the second half the Russians eventually broke out, with Pogrebnyak hitting the post. Ranieri kept the changes to a minimum, and Juve is now mathematically a point away from winning the group.
ST. PETERSBURG (Russia), 25 November 2008 - Juvenutus got a little closer to first place in Group H of the Champions League, but the maths still don't give them any certainty. Because in St. Petersburg, against Zenit, it ended 0-0. If Real Madrid win twice, one more point will be needed, at home against BATE in the next round in Turin. The Bianconeri showed that they had digested - as Ranieri would say - the loss to Inter, playing an excellent first half and then making a good start to the second. Then they blamed tiredness - also because Ranieri kept the changes to a minimum in search of a victory - and they got a fright at the end, when they were shaking, and not just from the bitter Russian cold.
THE SELECTIONS - Ranieri wanted to lock up first place in the group a round early and kept the changes to a minimum. Mellberg replaced Legrottaglie, while Iaquinta took Amauri's place. Camoranesi started the match, as did Nedved and Del Piero. Despite the fact that on Saturday evening they play Reggina in the championship, and that the risk of injury in the Russian cold was higher than usual. But 8 of the 11 who started against Inter were confirmed for this match: the youngsters De Ceglie and Giovinco were on the bench, and the baby Rossi was in the stands. Ranieri wanted to win.
JUVE'S POSTS - Zenit played possession football. Juve created dangers. Danger with Del Piero, who battled away at centre forward, but excelled with his finishing touches, trying to take advantage of the slowness of the Russian central defenders. Zenit, who have already finished their league championship in fifth place, were not in great physical condition. They controlled much of the play - given their position on the table, they had to make a game of it. They needed two wins to qualify: against Juve and Real (at the Bernabeu). A mission almost impossible. But they had to try, or at least follow their game plan. And there is always the qualification for the UEFA Cup within sight. And so you start with some unconvincing lateral moves, while Juve responds dangerously on the counterattack, with sudden raids through the middle of the pitch. The Bianconeri hit the woodwork twice: the outside of a post by Mellberg from a free-kick on the right by Camoranesi, and a second post hit by Iaquinta, off his left foot, from a cross by Molinaro. The third real chance fell to Del Piero, whose close range effort was blocked by Malafeev for a corner. At the end of the half the Russians made their presence felt in Manniger's zone: Tymoschuk went for power from a free-kick, Manniger kept it out for a corner. Then Zenit scored, through Pogrebnyak from a goal mouth scramble, but there was an offside. So the Russians had to start all over again. At the interval it was 0-0. A scoreline that was a little hard on Juventus, the more convincing side.

And things got difficult. Danny went close to scoring three times: one was well saved by Manniger, another Marchisio came back to cover, and the last chance narrowly missed the target. Then Zenit got their piece of the woodwork. A powerful left-footer by Pogrebnyak from long range: post. Zenit's final assault was full-blooded, but in vain: it ended 0-0.

Nedved: "I Would Give Up Everything for the Champions League Title"
The Czech (who scored against Fiorentina) continues to dream of a Champions League title at his age (36): "I'm willing to give up everything -including golf- other than my family. The club did a great job with the new acquisitions. Our opponents will have to sweat to beat us"
VINOVO (Turin), 4 September 2008 - At 36 years of age, Pavel Nedved has not given up on his dream of winning a Champions League title. It's an obsession that he can't get out of his mind, after having been so close to making his dream come true in 2003. However, his booking during the match against Real Madrid prevented him from playing in the finals in Manchester against Milan. Two years later, Juve are back in the European competition and Nedved is up to the challenge: in the meantime, he scored a valuable goal against Fiorentina in the Serie A match that confirms his starting left-winger position.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - "I would give up every single pleasure in life for a Champions League title, including golf games with Del Piero and Camoranesi, although I would never give up my family. Returning to the Champions League two years after playing in Serie B can be considered almost a miracle. We have new important players and valuable young talent this year. The club did a great job with the acquisitions. We are not afraid of anyone and our opponents will have to sweat to beat us. The group stage? There is no use in talking about Real Madrid; Zenit will be a tough bone to chew for a third phase team. We will also have to watch out for Bate. What would happen if we won the Cup? I will also play the World Championships in Tokyo. I'll go everywhere."
FLAG - "The symbols of this Juve squad are other players like Del Piero or Buffon. They have given so much to the team and I have learned a lot from them. When I started at Juve, I chose number 11 because it had been worn by great champions such as Bettega and I was honoured I could have the same shirt number. It has brought me very good luck."
CONDITIONS - "The goal in Florence was a nice one although I have to say that it was all Grygera's doing: he gave me a great pass and I just had to finish it in. For once, I made it on time to the ball. Infinite energy? It's harder to have endless energy; at my age, one needs to work hard and rest a lot. It takes a lot to regain strength. This year will be difficult with the Champions League and more matches close together. Giovinco, Marchisio and De Ceglie are ready to help an old chap like me."
FUTURE - "I'm clear about the future, although I prefer not to talk too much about it. Right now, I'm only focusing on our goals. I have discussed with Juve the possibility of coaching the kids because I find that role very exciting."

Ranieri launches Juventus "The Title Is Not Taboo"
It’s already time for Juventus to get together. Ranieri: "I am very satisfied with the transfers. We must be ambitious right from the Champions League qualifiers.” Blanc: “Xabi Alonso? The midfielder is a 30 million investment. We need t

VINOVO (Turin), 4 July 2008 – Everyone concentrated on the league. Juventus have quickly agreed their targets for the season. Claudio Ranieri’s words were endorsed by Jean Claude Blanc and each player in turn. Juventus have had a year's grace in which to work out how to return to the top. Now the aim is to triumph again. Blanc and Ranieri are aiming to win the championship without ignoring the Champions League. These are the club’s targets announced during the presentation of the new season’s shirts.
RANIERI - “We don’t have any taboos, not even the championship. We must be ambitious. We could have done it last year. This year we are aiming to win the title. I hope that this year’s team is not very different to last year’s. We need to improve and new arrivals will bring moral, technical and fighting spirit to an already competitive group of players. Regarding reinforcements I can say that we are only missing a second goalkeeper and a midfielder. We’ll choose a midfielder who’ll give me the option of changing things around. Someone like Stankovic? He is an all round quality player. He can play all midfield roles and is complete. The bad mood of some fans will pass after a couple of excellent performances. The three youngsters back from loan will be decisive. I don’t take age into account when choosing who to send onto the pitch. Giovinco had a great season with Empoli and is someone who knows how to beat a man and score.”

The contract renewals for Nedved and Chiellini have been important while Ekdal was bought with the future in mind. After Knezevic we are looking for a second goalkeeper and a midfielder. Xabi Alonso is one of the names mentioned, but before deciding we must assess him carefully: an investment of between 10 and 30 million euros is an important matter. We’ll take someone whose technical qualities best suit this Juventus team.”

Juventus Head East
Juventus flew out on their end-of-season tour of Asia and Australia on Tuesday.
The Bianconeri will play three matches over a nine-day period, with two games in China - against South China of Hong Kong and Shanghai, followed by a transfer to Australia to face Melbourne Victoria on May 30.
The party will be without Alessandro Del Piero, Gianluigi Buffon, Mauro Camoranesi and Giorgio Chiellini who are expected to join up with the Italy squad to prepare for the upcoming European championships.
Also missing will be full-back Zdenek Grygera who has been selected for the Czech Republic squad for Euro 2008, and midfielder Mohamed Sissoko.
However, coach Claudio Ranieri can still count upon a mixture of youth and experience with David Trezeguet leading the attack while Nicola Legrottaglie will marshall the defence and Pavel Nedved controls the midfield.

Del Piero Sets Out Challenge
Alessandro Del Piero has not given up hope on making the Italy squad for 2008 despite being ignored by coach Roberto Donadoni once again.
The Juventus star will not feature when the Azzurri face Spain in a friendly on Wednesday despite turning back the clock to help tear the Inter defence apart in the 2-1 win on Saturday evening.
The 33-year-old said: "The coach has made his decision but I still hope to be at Euro 2012."
On his present form the striker should be confident of making the trip to Austria and Switzerland as he tied Nerazzurri defender Marco Materazzi in knots as well as setting up David Trezeguet for the second goal.
The captain also equalled legendary Juve defender Gaetano Scirea's club record of 552 official games in a Bianconeri shirt and he added: "I would have loved to have scored myself but I wasted a great chance in a move with Trezeguet.
"We have to keep aiming to improve and keep setting our sights high."
The Turin side's win further cemented their third place and a step closer to Champions League qualification in their first season back in the top flight.
